Dengue Claims a Life, Health Department Denies

In Odisha dengue has added to the problems of the pandemic, after claiming the life of a retired police official. According to the sources, Former Additional DCP Sudarshan Sethi succumbed to dengue while undergoing treatment after being rushed to the hospital with a high fever. He tested positive for the Dengue tests; however, the Health authorities have denied the test report.

Dr. Niranjan Mishra, Director of Public Health stated that the patient did not take the ELISA Test, a standard quantitative test to detect IgM antibodies elicited by viral infection. He further added that the preliminary test was a card test, which is not always clinically correct. Meanwhile, the hospital has mentioned Multi-organ failure as the reason for death.

Meanwhile, Bhubaneshwar Mayor, Sulochana Das has assured the locals that preventive measures are being implemented ranging from source reduction to necessary steps to control disease spread.
